ETNIA BARCELONA FOUNDATION IS THE SOLIDARITY PROJECT OF ETNIA BARCELONA.
MISSION:
The foundation was established to achieve a twofold mission:
– Facilitate access to visual health for minors at risk and make the population in general aware of the importance of caring for the eyesight of the youngest, in an effort to prevent school failure and improve quality of life.
– The establishment of self-sustaining solidary opticians, to be run by women in developing nations, to offer a far broader service to the local population using scant economic resources. Likewise, to help empower women in their own localities and thus also offer greater access to visual health, at the same time as battling gender discrimination.
SIGHT:
Ensure all children the right to access quality visual healthcare and treatments, regardless of their social background.
Progressively reduce the prevalence of visual impairment amongst children by ensuring proper access to visual healthcare and follow-up treatment.
Establish a network of supporting opticians to provide access to visual healthcare to as great a part of the disadvantaged population as possible.
Encourage more and more women to have their eyes tested and thus help eradicate gender discrimination.
OBJECTIVES:
Facilitate access to visual healthcare for children through a foundation centre offering permanent care of this kind.
Prevent school failure caused by poor eyesight deriving from a want of access to visual healthcare and treatment.
Establish a network of opticians managed by women, designed both to empower women and offer broader access to visual healthcare for the most disadvantaged population.
